The second round of the Mountain Bike Australia (MTBA) National Mountain Bike Series has concluded at Mt Buller, with plenty of action over three huge days at the Victorian High Country resort.

Over 300 competitors took part in a range of events across two disciplines: the All Mountain Cup and Gravity Cup.
The All Mountain Cup saw riders compete in three cross-country events – the Super-D, which sees riders take a brake-burning descent down the iconic Delatite River Trail to the base of Mt Buller; the Olympic Format Cross-Country, a 5km course around the gruelling Corn Hill trails; and the Cross-Country Enduro, which saw riders tackle a 25km course incorporating Mt Buller’s signature wilderness trail, Stonefly.
Riders and spectators enjoyed sensational alpine summer weather, with blue skies and mild temperatures making for ideal race conditions.
Friday saw the first stage of the All Mountain Cup take place, with riders hitting the Delatite River Trail for the Super-D event. Josh Carlson and Jenni King took out the Elite men’s and women’s categories respectively, on a course that delighted riders and left them beaming as they reached Mirimbah Park at the base of the mountain.
Saturday’s event program for the All Mountain Cup was stage two, the Olympic Format Cross-Country which tested riders on the challenging trails at Corn Hill.
Beijing Olympics competitor Dan McConnell got over the line in first place in the Elite men’s category, and Jenni King continued her winning form to take out the Elite women’s category.
Sunday saw the final leg of the All Mountain Cup, with riders heading from Corn Hill to Mt Stirling and back on the challenging Stonefly trail.
Victorian Paul Van Der Ploeg was first across the line in the Elite men’s category, and Jenni King continued her domination winning the Elite women’s category.
Riders were very complimentary of the trails, with Van Der Ploeg saying “I was smiling the whole way down, the tracks at Mt Buller are really great”.
Jenni King also spoke highly of the trails at Mt Buller, saying “It was a really tough race but I enjoyed it, the trails were challenging”.
Sunday saw riders battle it out in the Gravity Cup, with reigning Junior World Champion Troy Brosnan and former Junior World Downhill Champion Tracey Hannah clocking amazing times that saw both finish well clear of quality fields.
