Ground Effect is a New Zealand based clothing company that's been around since the days of elastomer suspension and when Cadel Evans was still riding fat tyres. With singletrack starting at the factory back door it's a wonder how they do any work at all but they do, and do it well.

From the wide waist band to the smooth feel of the lycra these shorts immediately felt like they were punching above their A$99 price.

Using a 10 panel construction the fit was right on and Ground Effects website has enough information on there to measure up and ensure you order the right size. That's quite important as Ground Effect sell virtually right from the factory floor. With no shopfront it pays to do your sizing research first however they'll happily swap or refund it if needed. Just don't do any marathons in them first!

The Supersonics sit at the top of Ground Effect's lycra range with the 8 panel construction Sputniks coming in below at A$79 with the same comfortable synthetic 'chamois'. The Supersonics are showing no signs of slowing down and after a couple of weeks of mountain and road riding have also handled the wash with no signs of wear.

Now, time to keep working on that tan line and Ride It Long Time!
