ustralia’s best cross-country and downhill mountain bikers will convene on Mt Buller on January 20-22 for the MTBA National Mountain Bike Series, which will see riders tackle Mt Buller’s challenging terrain over a number of stages across two disciplines.

Held for the second year running at Mt Buller, the Nationals will see more than 300 cross-country and downhill riders competing in a range of events through the entire Mt Buller trail network, a destination that is fast cementing itself as one of Australia's best. Riders will compete across two disciplines: the All Mountain Cup and Gravity Cup.
The All Mountain Cup consists of three cross-country events – the Super-D, which sees riders take a brake-burning descent down the iconic Delatite River Trail to the base of Mt Buller; the Olympic Format Cross-Country, a 5km course around the gruelling Corn Hill trails; and the Cross-Country Enduro, which will see riders tackle a 25km course incorporating Mt Buller’s signature wilderness trail, Stonefly.
Riders in the Gravity Cup are in for an action-packed weekend of chairlift-assisted racing down one of Mt Buller’s challenging downhill trails, International, a fast-paced stalwart of the Australian gravity scene.
In addition to the action-packed race schedule, a range of other attractions are on offer throughout the weekend. On Friday evening, a screening of biking flick From the Inside Out will be shown at the Mt Buller Cinema at 8:30pm for just $5 per person, and on Saturday evening a special dinner will be held at the Mt Buller Chalet for riders, their families and spectators alike.
Mt Buller’s regular range of activities, including guided walks, mountain bike tours and scenic chairlift rides will also be operating during the weekend.
Ben Annear, Bike Buller Representative for the Mt Buller and Mt Stirling Alpine Resort Management Board, is looking forward to the event. “We are thrilled to welcome the team from Mountain Bike Australia back to Mt Buller for the National Mountain Bike Series.
Mt Buller’s extensive network of cross-country and downhill mountain bike trails means it is an ideal location for an event of this caliber, and with such a strong field of competitors doing battle across the disciplines we are sure to see plenty of action!”
